Making snow holidays easier and more affordable
Snow Holiday Expert started with a simple idea: planning a ski trip should not take twenty open tabs and a spreadsheet. We bring everything together in one place, from choosing a resort to booking the transfer and packing the kit.
We write for real people. Families tied to school holidays, first timers wondering what to expect, and groups trying to keep the cost down. No jargon and no fluff, just the practical answers people actually want.
Who is behind Snow Holiday Expert
Snow Holiday Expert is run by Matt, a UK skier who plans his family’s ski holidays himself. We usually fly from Manchester and stay in self catered two bedroom apartments, booked through Vrbo or Airbnb. When we started skiing we booked packages, and now we prefer to put the trip together ourselves, which is what most of this site is about.
Where we have skied
- Alpe d’Huez: February 2022, 2023 and 2024
- Megève: February 2024
- Avoriaz: the end of January into early February 2025, staying in the Les Crozats area
- Les Deux Alpes: February 2025
- Les Arcs 1800: February 2026, at Résidence Le Thuria in Les Villards
- Val d’Isère: a catered chalet holiday
First hand experience and researched facts
We are clear about which is which. Sections headed “From our own trips” and photos captioned “Our photo” come from our own holidays. Practical details such as prices, timetables, distances and opening dates are researched from official resort, transport and operator websites, which we link in each article so you can check them. These details change every season, so always confirm them before you book.
How we make money
Snow Holiday Expert is independent and free to read. Some of our pages contain affiliate links. If you book through one of them, we earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. That commission never decides what we recommend: we only suggest companies we think are good value, and we say so clearly where links are used.
Product links are provided on a non advised basis. No advice is given or implied, and you are responsible for deciding whether a product or service suits your needs. If you are unsure, seek independent advice.
